MAISON CHAMPY Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

ORIGIN
Appellation: Gevrey-Chambertin AOP
Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Soil: Limestone soil

Vineyard
Gevrey-Chambertin is a large town in the Côte de Nuits, with one of the largest vineyards of the Côte d’Or. Its wines are powerful and round, thanks to a good amount of marl clay in the limestone soil. Its AOC vineyards are planted on slopes, located between 240 and 280 m above sea level. It should also be noted that Gevrey-Chambertin possesses nine Grands Crus and 26 Premiers Crus.

WINEMAKING
Harvest by Hand. Aged in barrels of which 40% are new during 16 months.

TASING NOTES
A beautiful, shiny, dark ruby colour. Subtle nose with floral, fruity notes. A palate of finesse and elegance with a lot of freshness, and a good balance of notes of ripe fruit. Good subtlety, with the most delicate reflections of the terroir. A balanced finish, with good longevity.

FOOD PARINGS
The power of the flavors and aromas of this Gevrey-Chambertin call upon a rather elaborate cuisine: leg of lamb, fillet of duck, beef bourguignonne, chicken in wine sauce… and rather strong cheeses such as Livarot, Ami du Chambertin, refined Epoisses…

SERVING
Between 13 and 14°C
